Strellis & Field was the primary sponsor of a fundraising event coordinated by the Boys Club of Cicero alumni group. Town Hall Bowl was a packed house that night with friends and family of the local Boys Club supporting a great event that raised over $2,000. The Cicero chapter is unique in that most of the people running the club and its various activities are the local boys that are also enjoying the club on a regular basis. It’s a great way for these boys to understand the value of work ethic and job responsibilities. Attending this event on behalf of Strellis & Field were Chris Lash and Stephanie Weisman shown in the picture along with members of the Boys Club alumni committee.

Strellis & Field was a proud participant in the fundraising golf event hosted by the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois (SCIA). The leadership team for SCIA organized a very well run event and raised several thousands of dollars for their non-profit agency. The mission of SCIA is to serve as a comprehensive resource center for individuals who have been paralyzed due to trauma or conditions of the central nervous system, their families, health professionals, policy makers and others interested in spinal cord injury. Participating on behalf of Strellis & Field were Chris Lash and Gregg Strellis who had an enjoyable time teaming up with the two fine gentlemen shown in the photo. Additionally, we met some hard working folks from the SCIA organization whom we look forward to seeing again next year.

To show our appreciation for many of the people who have trusted our firm to represent friends and family that have been severely injured, we hosted a celebration at Wrigley Field. Maintaining strong relationships with our current clients, former clients and our business partners is a top priority for Strellis & Field. We had a great turnout for this year’s rooftop event and look forward to hosting a similar event next year.

For the second year in a row, Strellis & Field participated in the V Foundation’s golf event presented by Chicago’s finest sports radio station ESPN 1000. Due to the efforts of the ESPN 1000 summer interns, the Stonewall Orchard Golf Club staff, and the many local volunteers, this is a top notch charity golf event benefiting a very worthy foundation. Strellis & Field did its part to help raise money for cancer research by purchasing a large percentage of the sports-related silent auction items.

Over the years, Strellis & Field has been fortunate enough to zealously represent numerous clients from Cicero, IL. To show the respect and honor we had for this great community, we wanted to show the folks in the community that we cared. The bowlers at Town Hall Bowl in Cicero have a lot of similarities to the fine hard working men and women that we represent, so we have sponsored a few events in the past year at this fine establishment. In addition to providing resources for this summer’s doubles league, we have also organized a couple nights of free bowling for families in the area. Julio Gonzalez, owner of Town Hall Bowl, has been a great partner for us in the Cicero community. Good luck and call us when you roll 12 X’s.

Gregg is also an avid reader of medical and technology journals, so you will find several of his blogs have a more technical feel than most injury lawyer blogs, and his analysis of severe injuries is very thorough.

Strellis & Field, Chartered announces the first reported case against Husqvarna Construction Products for the defective design of the Target Pro 65III Walk Behind Concrete Saw. Husqvarna is a worldwide manufacturer of concrete walk behind construction saws. This is believed to be the first case recorded where Husqvarna settled a claim for personal injuries resulting from the defective design allegations noted above.

On June 3, 2003, Jose Galvan, a 46 year old Chicago Construction laborer was injured while working as a bottom man assisting in the placement of a new sewer line in Lake County, Illinois. At that time a co-worker was operating the Target Pro 65III Walk Behind Concrete Saw with a 36 inch diamond blade. Suddenly, the diamond blade disengaged from the saw and became an extremely dangerous sharp projectile. Jose Galvan was struck in his non dominant left arm causing a severe laceration of his arm below his elbow slicing his ulnar nerve. Jose underwent two surgeries to repair his ulnar nerve eventually regaining function in his left hand, however suffering permanent loss of strength and clawing.

The Target saw involved in this case was alleged to have several design flaws. Read More »

Strellis & Field, Chartered announces the first reported settlement against Pitman Manufacturing Company, Inc. for the defective design of the Pitman Polecat Derrick Digger Crane. The settlement in this case is believed to be one of the largest settlements in Kane County, Illinois for construction accidents causing traumatic brain injuries and was the largest reported settlement in Cook, DuPage, Will and Kane Counties for the second quarter of 2009.

On August 3, 2003, James King was working as a City of Aurora electrician in the process of installing a 50 foot aluminum light pole near the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Illinois. James, an experienced crane operator, was working with his partner using the crane to hold the aluminum pole in place while connecting the electrical wiring at ground level so that the light could be functional when fastened to the base.

Unexpectedly, a roll pin in the downhaul device failed causing the 40 lb. cast iron device to fall approximately 25 feet striking James on the head. James sustained a skull fracture and brain hematoma requiring an emergency craniotomy performed by Rasmis Ghaly, M.D. at Provena. Read More »
